Celebrating International Women's Day
It is widely recognized that meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is inextricably linked with the process of structural transformation.
The UNCTAD project “South-South Integration and the SDGs: Enhancing Structural Transformation in Key Partner Countries of the Belt and Road Initiative” identifies key policy areas in which limitations exist in government capacity in many countries, to effectively design, manage, coordinate, implement, and evaluate strategic economic interventions that are the policy levers of structural transformation.
Gender mainstreaming in national policies, particularly, remains a huge challenge in many developing countries.
To address this gap, the project aims to share successful experiences of developing countries, with a view to assist national capacity-building.
Purpose and objectives
The meeting will launch a study on ‘Mainstreaming Gender in National Policies’ focusing on pilot countries of the project, namely, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
It will bring together policymakers and experts from different developing countries to discuss the study and share policy experiences in this area.
